During the summer of 2017, over 27 people from all over the world participated in Lajee Center's international summer work camp in Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, Palestine.
We have now opened the call for applications for the 18th International Summer Camp that is due to take place from 1– 14 August 2018!
The summer camp
During the two week programme, participants work on the ground to support Aida’s community to develop the only free, recreational space in the Camp, The participants also attend lectures and meetings with leading Palestinians in the fields of media, education, politics and social work. The group will visit civil society organisations, learn how to cook traditional Palestinian dishes, learn basic Arabic, and meet with people in refugee camps, villages and towns.
Why apply?
The purpose of the annual summer work camp is to provide a space for internationals to take part in an intensive educational and practical programme in Palestine with Palestinians. This is an important activity in Lajee’s outreach work, particularly because of the mainstream media bias Palestinians are subjected to around the world. The camp challenges participants to think and learn in new ways about the situation, gain a more informed understanding of the reality on the ground, and foster life-long friendships with Palestinians.
This is a diverse programme open to all with an open mind and willingness to learn, no matter your level of knowledge about the Palestinian case. Workers, activists, students, professionals, any person with the objective of learning and working with Palestinians, are welcome to apply.
Registration fees are €400 for each participant (accommodation, meals, transportation during the summer camp) are all included.
Flights and transportation to and from the airport are not included.
Participants have to be 18 years or older
Knowledge of English language (the main language of communication will be English)
