Conclusion of the 22nd Annual Summer Camp “Here We Remain”

Lajee Center in Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, concluded the activities of its 22nd Annual Summer Camp “Here We Remain”, held in two phases over twenty consecutive days, with the participation of 540 children from Aida and Al-Azza camps and various areas across the Bethlehem district, supported by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

This year’s camp was organized in two rounds due to the high number of registrations, allowing each group to participate for ten days, ensuring that all children could take part and benefit from the educational and artistic workshops and activities offered.

Targeting children aged 5 to 14, the camp continues Lajee Center’s mission of empowering children and youth, nurturing creativity, and strengthening teamwork and a sense of belonging, while providing a safe and joyful space for learning and play during the summer.

Camp Activities and Corners

The camp included a wide range of educational, cultural, and artistic activities, such as: sports, circus, creative writing, drawing, handicrafts, national culture, health for children, health for youth, literature, general culture, music and choir, musical therapy, psychological counseling, environmental awareness, photography, and dabkeh, in addition to games, competitions, and water activities.
The center also welcomed guest speakers and partner organizations who conducted special workshops throughout the camp.

Camp Conclusion

The camp concluded with a final performance by the children, featuring Palestinian dabka, theater, national and heritage songs, circus performances, and an environmental presentation, showcasing what participants learned throughout the camp.

Through its annual summer camp, Lajee Center continues its mission to serve the children and youth of Aida Camp and the local community, offering programs that combine education, recreation, and national values — ensuring that the camp remains each year a space for hope, belonging, and creativity under the slogan:
“Here We Remain.”
