Conclusion of the 23rd International Summer Camp in Solidarity with Palestine

The activities of the 23rd International Summer Camp in Solidarity with Palestine concluded at the Lajee Center, with the participation of 14 international volunteers from various countries, following a comprehensive program that lasted two full weeks and combined field visits, volunteer work, and cultural and community activities.

The camp program included field visits to several Palestinian cities, including Jerusalem, Ramallah, Hebron, and Bethlehem, with the aim of introducing participants to the political, social, and economic realities across different areas of Palestine. Participants also visited Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps, where they witnessed firsthand the scale of destruction caused by the Israeli occupation and listened to direct testimonies from displaced families, gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of military aggression on civilians’ daily lives.

Throughout the camp, participants engaged in volunteer work within the Lajee Center and its surrounding community, taking part in community-based activities and interactive programs with children. These activities created meaningful human connections and fostered solidarity through shared experiences, play, art, and collective action.

The camp also featured a rich cultural and social program, including camping in Deir Mar Saba, Arabic language lessons, and training in traditional Palestinian Dabke, offering participants an immersive introduction to Palestinian culture, identity, and heritage, while encouraging cultural exchange between international volunteers and the local community.

On the human rights level, the camp included meetings with former Palestinian prisoners, as well as discussions with representatives from the Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, providing participants with insight into the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and the systematic violations they face.

Over the course of two weeks, the International Summer Camp embodied the spirit of international human solidarity with the Palestinian people, offering participants a direct and honest understanding of daily life under occupation, while engaging them in cultural, educational, and community-based experiences that deepen their connection to Palestine.
