First Aid and Emergency Training with Health and Environmental Unit
The organization of this event comes in light of the difficult conditions taking place in Palestine, especially in the West Bank where arrests and raids continue, and the region faces great challenges represented by the Israeli colonial army’s prevention of ambulances from reaching the injured and the great distance between the health centers from the Aida and Beit Jibreen camps.
The training event, organized by the Lajee Center’s Health and Environment Unit, included practical and theoretical sessions on how to deal with fractures and bone injuries, and provide first aid in cases of suffocation for adults and children. It also included methods for dealing with convulsions resulting from high temperature, and how to deal with these cases in prevention of swallowing the tongue and fainting. In addition, participants learned how to deal with various types of bleeding, including injuries caused by live and explosive bullets, and provide primary care for burns of various degrees.
In another aspect of the activity, the participants visited hydroponic greenhouses and learned how to pick and handle various crops such as mint, parsley, green onions, chards, mustard, and kale. The crops were distributed to the participants, with a detailed explanation of the types of crops grown within the hydroponic units and their health benefits.
