Rebel Circus School

The Rebel Circus School continues its intensive training for four groups of circus students. The training sessions take place four days a week, with 45 students practicing various circus skills.  

In January, the school welcomed circus trainers from Spain, Gonzalo and Miguel, from the Payasos En Rebeldia Circus School, who provided advanced training for the students. Trainer Miguel continued conducting sessions for two months, covering aerial acts, juggling, and acrobatics, which helped enhance the students’ circus arts skills.

In February, the four groups continued their training with the Spanish trainers Ro and Sue to build on the training previously conducted by Miguel and Gonzalo.

Environmental Club

As part of the weekly activities of the Environmental Club, the Health and Environment Unit at Lajee Center organized a series of events aimed at promoting environmental awareness among participants.  

The activities included recycling plastic bottles and transforming them into plant pots filled with flowers, which were then hung in designated areas. This initiative aimed to foster a culture of recycling and encourage the reuse of materials in environmentally friendly ways.  

Additionally, members of the Environmental Club took part in harvesting agricultural crops, supporting local farming and the concept of food sovereignty.  

On the awareness front, two students from the Environmental Club delivered a lecture on environmental pollution to their peers. They discussed its negative effects on the environment and human health and explored possible solutions to reduce pollution and protect the environment.  

These activities align with the vision of the Health and Environment Unit at Lajee Center to promote positive environmental behavior and empower young people to actively participate in environmental protection.

Lajee Celtic Football Academy

Lajee Celtic Football Club and Academy distributed official uniforms and training kits to the team players, handing out 43 sports bags containing essential equipment for players in the junior and youth categories.  

This initiative was overseen by the Lajee Celtic Club’s board of directors, reaffirming the club’s commitment to providing a comprehensive sports environment for its players, ensuring they train with the best resources and enhancing their preparation for upcoming competitions.

Media Unit

As part of enhancing media knowledge and developing visual photography skills, the Media Club at the Lajee Center organized a virtual meeting via Zoom with world-renowned photojournalist Alessandra Sanguinetti. During the meeting, she shared her rich experience in the world of photography with the center’s students.  

Throughout the session, Alessandra talked about her beginnings in photography and showed images she captured since her youth, explaining how her artistic style has evolved over the years. She also shared a collection of photos she documented during her visits to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, highlighting daily life under challenging conditions and emphasizing the importance of photography in documenting the truth.  

The students engaged with the photographer by asking questions and seeking advice on photography techniques and other topics.

Additionally, the Media Club continues its weekly meetings with students as part of the ongoing work from the Winter Media Camp, aiming to enhance their media skills and develop their abilities in photography.

Women’s Unit

On February 19, fifteen women met with the Director Mohammad Al-Azza to introduce themselves and discuss their interest in the unit’s activities. He highlighted the importance of commitment to the program and preparing for the cooperative’s launch. Participants also shared ideas, including establishing a sewing workshop and a handicrafts section within the cooperative.  

Additionally, on February 22, the administrative group began training sessions with trainer Lian Al-Azza, continuing previous work on cooperative management. The group, consisting of 10 women, reviewed past knowledge and developed a structured plan for upcoming sessions. Eight intensive administrative meetings were scheduled, each lasting three hours and held weekly on Saturdays. A detailed plan for these sessions was created to ensure steady progress toward the cooperative’s establishment.

Boxing Club

The Boxing Club at the Lajee Center continues its training program for the third consecutive year, providing young people with the opportunity to develop their physical and mental skills through boxing.  

Currently, about fifteen young men and boys are participating in the regular training sessions, which focus on physical fitness, boxing techniques, and sports discipline. This helps them build physical strength and self-confidence.

Zahrat Al-Yasmeen Kindergarten

In February 2025, Zahrat Al-Yasmeen Kindergarten organized several enriching activities for the children. One key event was a collaboration with Bethlehem University Occupational Therapy students, aimed at providing psychological relief for the children during these challenging times.

Children also harvested cauliflower from the kindergarten’s garden, which they had planted earlier, and then cooked it together. The kindergarten incorporated active learning activities into the curriculum and activated the library to encourage reading as part of the monthly plans.

The classrooms were decorated for winter, and children learned about the season’s characteristics. Additionally, a recycling activity with Majd taught children the importance of reusing materials to protect the environment.

These activities provided a fun and educational experience, supporting both the emotional and intellectual development of the children.

Lajee Library

Throughout February, the library at Lajee Center organized several interactive activities for children from Zahrat Al-Yasmeen Kindergarten. The preschool class enjoyed a storytelling session featuring The Rain Singer, which introduced them to winter and rain through a song and an accompanying art activity. They also watched a video about the water cycle, followed by a reading of The Amazing Water Hero, teaching them about water conservation. Their art activity involved painting raindrops with gouache colors. 

The kindergarten class participated in a reading of Rain, Rain, Rain, where they learned about winter clothing and sorted clothing cards into groups. They also watched a video about forest and winter animals, learning about penguins and their habitat before engaging in an art project. Another session featured Good Night, a story about farm animals and their babies, which helped children recognize different animals and their sounds. The final activity for this group was a review of farm animals, followed by a fun craft where they created animal masks. 

Additionally, the Friday library program continued, offering two-hour sessions each week that combined storytelling, drawing, and games.

Creative Writing

The creative writing program continued its sessions with the children’s group, focusing on completing their second story in the youth category. Meanwhile, the art group held five meetings dedicated to illustrating a children’s story, bringing the narrative to life through visual storytelling. They are working on drawing the scenes and characters for the story that their peers are writing and creating in the creative writing section.

Lajee Music Institute

Music training sessions continued throughout the month, covering instrumental practice and choir rehearsals. The choir group expanded with the addition of new participants, increasing the total number of students to fifteen, all aged between 7 and 11 years old.

Additionally, music theory classes were conducted for two levels, which introduced students to fundamental concepts such as reading musical notation, understanding scales, and learning different time signatures and rhythms. These sessions aimed to enhance their musical knowledge and support their development in playing, composing, and arranging music as part of Lajee Center’s comprehensive music education program.

Health Unit

The Health Unit conducted a health activity for patients before Ramadan. The activity was educational and recreational which focused on preparing patients for Ramadan. The session highlighted the proper way to take medications and insulin during fasting. Dr. Mohammed provided detailed explanations about essential medications, their correct dosages, and their usage during Ramadan. Additionally, a health awareness competition was held on diabetes and hypertension, with prizes distributed to participants.  

Additionally, patients were divided into groups to visit the Lajee Center, where they engaged in agricultural tasks such as harvesting crops and planting chard and lettuce in hydroponic towers. Two groups participated this month, each consisting of six patients. The total harvest included 3.196 kg of broccoli, 2.200 kg of chard, 8.833 kg of cabbage, and 2.718 kg of red and green lettuce.

Pediatric Care Initiative

As part of Lajee Center’s new Pediatric Care Initiative, a discussion session was held in February for mothers, fathers and grandmothers. The session introduced the initiative, provided essential information on maternal and child health, and created a space for women to share experiences and concerns. This initiative, in collaboration with the Health for Palestine (H4P) program, aims to support first-time parents and newborns by improving access to pediatric healthcare services, offering educational workshops, and promoting early childhood wellness in the community.
